Market Analysis and Outlook (Chart Pack)

Following each financial quarter, VFMC releases a report which provides comment on market and economic trends. This month we review the September quarter and examine the data and signs to look forward for the global economy and investment markets.

Summary

The global economic recovery moved to firmer footing in the September quarter driven by rebuilding of inventories, aggressive fiscal and monetary stimulus, improved financial and capital market conditions and very effective reflation policies in emerging economies, particularly in China. Australia’s economy continues to perform relatively strongly, as evidenced by strengthening activity data and rising consumer and business confidence.

Our core economic thesis is that global growth recovers over the next six to nine months with stronger demand growth and trade flows in both the major emerging and developed economies. However, we expect the recovery will be uneven and the characterized by volatility, factors not fully captured in market forecasts and pricing.
