Privacy Policy

The Information Privacy Act 2000 (“the Act”) came into operation on 1 September 2002. The Act requires all government agencies comply with the 10 Information Privacy Principles (“IPPs”) which are set out in detail in schedule 1 of the Act. The object of the Act is to protect personal information in the public sector.

Developing a privacy policy is a requirement of the Act.  IPP 5 states that an organisation must clearly document its policies to anyone who asks for them.
